VIETNAM ACHIEVES A HISTORIC MILESTONE WITH 99.71% PURE PRIMARY ALUMINUM: A NEW CHAPTER FOR MANUFACTURING AND GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAINS

On July 26, 2026, Vietnam officially announced the successful production of 99.71% pure primary aluminum at the Dak Nong Aluminum Electrolysis Plant. This achievement marks the country's first fully integrated aluminum value chain—from bauxite mining and alumina refining to primary aluminum production—representing a major transition from exporting raw materials to manufacturing high-value industrial materials.

This milestone not only demonstrates the rapid advancement of Vietnam's aluminum industry but also creates new momentum for downstream sectors, including aluminum extrusion, aluminum casting, precision engineering, automotive, electronics, renewable energy, and aerospace manufacturing. A reliable domestic aluminum supply will strengthen supply chain resilience, reduce dependence on imports, and enhance the global competitiveness of Vietnamese manufacturers.

The development is also expected to attract additional foreign direct investment (FDI), creating new opportunities for manufacturers, supporting industries, and logistics providers. At the same time, it will drive increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in metallurgy, manufacturing, engineering, quality management, procurement, and supply chain management.

Vietnam is steadily evolving from a supplier of raw materials into a strategic manufacturing hub within the global industrial supply chain. With continued investment in technology, innovation, and sustainable industrial development, today's achievement in aluminum production may well become the foundation for an even stronger, more competitive, and globally connected manufacturing future.
